Courses

Accredited facilitators from ANPH teach courses using narrative practice and Conversations Inviting Change. These are predominately focused on developing multi-professional supervision skills for health care professionals and delivered in a variety of institutions. These courses are occasionally opened up to a wider audience, and when this is the case the courses will be advertised here.

Conversations Inviting Change: Evening Course offered by Physiotherapy Pain Association, February-March 2023

Following the success of their previous CIC courses and highly positive feedback from participants, the Physiotherapy Pain Association in the UK is running another introductory online CIC course starting in February 2023. It will take place on three Wednesday evenings: 23 February, 8 and 29 March at 6-8pm UK time via Zoom. All clinicians are welcome, not only physios, and the course will offer a general introduction to CIC as well as covering its application in patients with pain and symptoms without a clear medical diagnosis. Conversations Inviting Change: Evening Course offered by Physiotherapy Pain Association, January 2022


The Pain Physiotherapy Association has run a number of highly successful online courses in CIC . They are running a further course on three Tuesday evenings from January 25th 2022. Led by accredited CIC trainers, it is open to all health and social care professionals (not only physios) and will offer a general introduction to ‘Conversations Inviting Change’ as well as having a focus on chronic pain and complex cases without a clear diagnosis. Conversations Inviting Change: Online course offered by University College of Osteopathy, November 2021

An exciting opportunity to join a remote short course on narrative-based practice in health care: Conversations Inviting Change. An increasing number of physiotherapists and osteopaths are now using CIC as an approach for patients with pain and complex problems. We are delighted to announce our first remote short course for the University College of Osteopathy in London in November 2021. It is open to all health professionals and will offer a general introduction to CIC as well as a focus on pain. Details and application form here.

CIC at San Diego Pain Summit, Jan. 2021

Online CIC workshop in January 2021 for the San Diego Pain Summit. Six 2-hour sessions from 11-20 January timed so that participants from the UK and Europe as well as across the US could join. While aimed mainly at physical therapists with a special interest in pain and unexplained symptoms, it was open to all healthcare professionals and suitable as an introduction to narrative-based ideas and skills. The Pain Physiotherapy Association offered a full online course in Conversations Inviting Change, in November 2020. Six interactive facilitated small group sessions, with opportunities to apply skills between sessions. The course was facilitated by John Launer, Sue Elliot and Diana Kelly. It was open to all healthcare professionals, and offered a general introduction to CIC as well as a focus on pain and unexplained symptoms.
